Sheffield has always been a place where people collaborate and enjoy a sense of community. At New Era, Jerry Cheung’s vision very much taps into that historic ability to connect. It is a development that celebrates diversity – where people work, rest and play. In a recent coffee table book, we learn how Jerry’s inspirational journey started when he came to Sheffield from Hong Kong at the age of only 14.
His vision to bring people and enterprise together has resulted in this landmark development which is a reminder that our city’s strength lies in it’s ability to share space, purpose and pride. It comprises an array of offices, accommodation, shops and restaurants, all based around a bustling square where all are welcome.
The book highlights that whilst the space celebrates Chinese culture it is very much an example of international collaboration. A place where communities meet, ideas can grow and the story of Sheffield’s success can continue. Indeed, a number of high profile local businesses have chosen to make it their home (eg Counter Context, Unihomes, etc).
